Commercial Pilot Requirements

1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2. Be able to read, speak, and understand the English Language.
3. Hold a valid second-class medical certificate.
4. Pass a written examination appropriate to the aircraft rating sought.
5. Pass an oral and flight test appropriate to the rating sought.
6. Hold at least a Private Pilot certificate with an airplane rating.

Private Pilot Aeronautical Experience
(Airplane Rating)

The applicant must have logged at least 250 hours of total flight time consisting of at least:

1.
100 hours in powered aircraft of which at least 50 hours must be in an airplane.

2.
100 hours of Pilot-in-command time, including:
    a. 50 hours in airplanes.
    b. 50 hours of cross-country flight of which 10 hours must be in an airplane, each flight with a         landing at a point more than 50 NM from the original departure point.

3.
20 hours training in preparation for the commercial flight test that includes:
    a. 10 hours of instrument instruction of which at least 5 must be in a single engine airplane.
    b. 10 hours of training in an airplane having a retractable landing gear, flaps, and a controllable         pitch propeller or is turbine powered.
    c. 1 cross-country flight of at least 2 hours in a single engine airplane in daytime VFR         conditions with a total straight line distance of more than 100 NM from the departure point.

4.
10 hours of solo flight in a single engine airplane including at least:
    a. 1 cross-country flight of not less than 300 NM total with landings at a minimum of 3 points,         1 having at least a straight line distance of 250 NM from departure point.
    b. 5 hours in night VFR conditions with 10 takeoffs and landings at an airport with an operating         control tower.
