Private Pilot Requirements
1. Be at least 17 years of age (16 to solo).
2. Be able to read, speak, and understand the English Language.
3. Hold a current third-class medical certificate.
4. Pass a written test on various subject areas of aeronautical knowledge
within the preceding 24 months.
5. Pass an oral and flight test on maneuvers and procedures selected by an
FAA inspector or designated pilot examiner.

Experience

40 Hours Total Time
1. 20 hours dual time (with instructor)
a.
3 hours cross - country
b.
3 hours at night (including ten takeoffs and landings) plus one cross - country
of 100 NM.
c.
3 hours in preparation for flight test within 60 days.
2. 10 hours of Solo Time
a.
5 hours of cross - country; each flight with a landing at least 50 NM from
the original departure
point.
b.
One flight must be of at least 150 NM with landings at a minimum of 3 points,
one of which
is at least 50 NM from the original departure point.
c.
3 solo takeoffs and landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating
control tower.
Note: These are the minimum hours required by the FAA. More hours
are usually required to obtain a degree of proficiency necessary
to pass the practical test. Normally 50 to 60 hours.
